8th Grade Farewell

Thursday, May 22nd, 2025*

As our students move on from Blue Valley Middle, the school and PTO would like to honor them, celebrate them, reminisce over the past 3 years, and make this a special memory for them!

As plans are solidified, we will continue to update this page with the latest information. (Last updated 1/23/25)

Event Details

Your student's final full day of middle school will begin with a Formal Ceremony in the gym. Families are invited to attend, as the school acknowledges their accomplishments and wishes them well on their high school journey. Students are asked to dress up for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, families and students are invited to move into the school courtyard for a brief reception. This is your opportunity to take photos and congratulate your student and their friends.

After families depart, students will change into their provided class t-shirts. Please send casual clothing with your student to wear. They will then board buses to Rush Funplex.

At Rush Funplex, students will have the opportunity to spend three hours celebrating their accomplishments with their classmates and friends. Included activities are bowling, mini golf, foam pit, laser tag, bumper cars, pool, go karts, and rock climbing. Students will be provided with pizza and soda for lunch. Arcade games and other food items are available for purchase if your student would like to bring extra money.

Students will return to BVMS by bus, and will be dismissed for the day at the usual dismissal time of 3pm. Please note that students can not be checked out from Rush Funplex. All students must ride the bus to AND from BVMS. If you plan to check your student out early, work with the school to do so once they return to the building.

Family To-Dos

The 8th Grade Farewell Committee is already hard at work to plan this fun event! To help us, complete the below action items ASAP, but no later than March 14, 2025.

1) Pay Fees

PTO will pay some of the event costs.  Families are asked to each contribute $35 to cover the remainder of the event. Fees will pay for reception decor and refreshments, class t-shirts, transportation and wristbands to Rush Funplex, and lunch for each student.

CLICK HERE to make your contribution.

2) Submit Slideshow Photos

It is tradition to have an end of year slide show including each 8th grader as we celebrate their transition to high school.  Each family should email in a baby/toddler picture and a current picture of their 8th grader. These photos should have their faces at the center of the photo and be fairly high quality.

To avoid confusion all of the photos should be renamed in the following convention and saved as a .jpg before emailing to sneckert@bluevalleyk12.org

LASTNAME_BABY.jpg and LASTNAME_8thGrade.jpg.

3) Volunteer to Chaperone

We are seeking 8 additional adults to help the committee and teachers keep students safe! If you would like to help chaperone students at Rush Funplex, please sign up here. Chaperones will will meet the buses at 10am, and stay until students board buses at 1pm.
